Reading for a Purpose

Dear Parents and Students-
This week students were introduced to several story's that focused on Reading/Comprehension of Literary Text/Fiction. We are striving to have students understand draw conclusions about the structure and elements of fiction to support their understanding of the story. The objective we focused on was to describe main characters in works of fiction, including their traits, motivations, and feelings. Below is three internet activities that will aid in their understanding of this lesson.

Activity 1 - This first activity is find your local library. The library collection includes more than 800,000 books, magazines, and media. Once you have found the website see if Mom Dad or Grandma will take you by and you can open up your own account and start checking out books. Each book has a story that can take you to far away places or back in history. Reading is the greatest way to spend quality time as a family or by yourself.

Activity 2 - This second activity to watch the video of the book Cat in the Hat by Justin Bieber!!!
Activity 3 - The last activity is to play the game Simple Sentences. This activity will help students make correct sentences which will aid them in the Journal Entry.

I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy these fun educational activities. Can't wait to see you again next week.
Mrs. Rushing :)
